(6,7) There are several possible explanations for poor growth in those children, they may include: Low caloric intake. Type of cardiac lesion. Chronic hypoxemia. Malabsorption. Hypermetabolism. Others. 1. Inadequate caloric intake appears to be the most important cause of growth failure in CHD. [7]
