Clays are abundant raw mateıiais vvhich have variety of uses for environmental applications. Bentonite clay is comprised predominantly of smectite minerais, usualîy montmoriüonite [1]. İt is one of the most effective natural adsorbents. Bentonite can be modified vvith a surfactant by simple ionexchange reactions. Therefore, the surface properties of bentonite are transformed from organophobic to strongly organophilic and its adsorption selectivity tovvards organic substances increases [2).
