Olmesartan-associated sprue-like enteropathy

An 80-year-old man with a 12-h history of watery diarrhoea was admitted to our hospital. Notably, the patient had 2 similar episodes in the previous month; on each occasion his condition had improved after a short stay on the ward treated with fluid resuscitation using balanced crystalloids and oxygen. He had a history of hypertension and was prescribed olmesartan. He reported no recent foreign travel.
