Thrombosis and Anticoagulation in COVID-19

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has recently been described, and it has been reported that 15% of patients with the disease develop the severe form.(1) Because the lungs are the organs most often affected, clinical deterioration can occur, with progression to hypoxemic respiratory failure and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), within a few days after symptom onset. In the context of a pandemic that has important prognostic implications, the investigation of new treatments is justified.
