Physiological constraints of visual pathway lead to more efficient coding of information in retina

•Developing a realistic neural encoding model up to Retina Ganglion Cells (RGCs).•Correlation of RGCs is effective in redundancy reduction of visual channel.•Considering spatial locality of the photoreceptor’s PF in visual neural encoding.•Reducing redundancy, while maintaining the physiology of visual pathway.•Our approach is in accordance with center surround template in receptive field.
