Quantification of neurotransmitters in microdialysate samples following quetiapine dosing to schizophrenia phenotyped rats using a validated LC-MS/MS method

•An LC-MS/MS method was validated for in vivo monitoring of monoamines in microdialysate samples.•Method addressed minimization of analytical time and sample volumes without any derivatization or cleanup steps.•Method was applied to determine interstitial monoamine concentrations in schizophrenia phenotyped rats.•Monoamines levels after quetiapine dosing to schizophrenia-like rats were not different from baseline.
