Sleep problems associated with long-term mortality in acute coronary syndrome: Effects of depression comorbidity and treatment.

•Sleep disturbances are a common complaint following acute coronary syndrome (ACS).•This study investigated associations of sleep disturbances in patients with recent ACS with 5~12 year long-term mortality.•Adverse effects of sleep disturbances but beneficial effects of depression treatment on mortality were found.•Importance of evaluating sleep disturbance and treating depression was underscored in patients with ACS.
