Training the Next Generation of Anesthesiologists

Training the next generation of anesthesiologists involves insight into our evolving learners and educational milieu. What are the influences of technology and social media on their learning preferences and communication styles? How can we adapt as leaders and medical educators to best serve them? In the upcoming sections, we discuss evidence-based practices in medical education, including specific teaching methods and strategies for the current generation of learners. As we adopt these methods, we pair them with tools for critical reflection and feedback, thereby promoting continuous self-improvement. We also present generational challenges and solutions for communicating with our trainees, including a discussion of professional development and wellness.
