•Studies of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 sensitivity to seasonal change have produced varied results.•Insufficient understanding of meteorological variables may be one cause.•Another may be how global seasons differ between tropical and temperate zones.•This paper seeks to describe why this might occur.
