Comparison the accuracy of early warning scores with qSOFA and SIRS for predicting sepsis in the emergency department

•MEWS and SOS were the highest accuracy for predicting sepsis by sepsis-2 definition.•MEDS and NEWS present the highest ability for predicting sepsis by sepsis-3 definition.•NEWS outperformed other scores for predicting hospital admission and mortality.•qSOFA was better performance than SIRS for predicting sepsis and mortality.•None of the score were not likely to be clinical useful for predicting sepsis and mortality.
