Hereditary angioedema - current and future therapies

Hereditary angioedema are congenital conditions with life-long manifestations as recurrent angioedema. For various therapeutic concepts in HAE, from acute therapy to long-term prophylaxis, a variety of approved medications are currently available in Germany. The different therapeutic options address various therapeutic targets, they are different as to their nature and their mode of application. With the medication available in Germany, it is currently largely possible to adapt management strategies individually. Novel therapeutic developments will possibly enhance the therapeutic spectrum of HAE in the near future. New developments lead towards longer acting medication, towards easier handling and effective reduction of attacks. The goal of all therapeutic efforts is to ensure a normal life for HAE patients.
