摘要

•Several extracts of Sambucus nigra were prepared and biologically characterized.•No cytotoxicity was observed in human skin cells and monocytic cell lines.•These extracts showed remarkable in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities.•These extracts are interesting sources of bioactives for skin diseases and care.
