摘要

•Developed an easy-to-synthesize Schiff base receptor BPB for the detection of Al(III).•BPB showed Al(III) selective turn-on fluorescence due to CHEF sensing mechanism.•The LOD of BPB is 256 nM which is lower than the WHO limit in drinking water.•BPB was applied for the detection of intracellular Al(III) in live A549 cells line.
