Background: Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is common in the neonatal population. While generally benign in infancy, it may lead to adverse respiratory and nutritional outcomes and lengthen hospital stay. Prolonged nasogastric (NG) feeding is frequently used to reduce GER. However, prolonging NG feeds may delay gastric emptying or increase transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxation.
