•Mesh-independent results can be achieved by properly choosing the friction coefficients.•Microscopic slip length can be achieved by tuning the contact line friction.•The contact angle hysteresis is automatically captured with a simple modification.•Contact line is pinned when the dynamic angle is within the hysteresis window.•Contact angle condition is easily imposed.
