WITHDRAWN: Intelligent microscopy to improve cataract surgery

Abstract Phacoemulsification is the most performed surgery in the world. Over the past few years, evidence emerged about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cataract surgery video analysis for phase classification and instrument identification. Herein, we propose the use of AI to analyze intraoperative images captured by a surgical microscope to improve the fluidic of the phacoemulsification device. The principle is to develop an AI algorithm for recognizing anterior chamber movements by real-time automated analysis of microscope captured images. When AI recognizes an aspect of the anterior chamber which begins to be emptied, it sends a signal to the fluidic system to adjust the anterior segment depth. We believe that this technique could improve surgery security.
