5GNOW: Application challenges and initial waveform results

: 5GNOW (‘5th Generation Non-orthogonal Waveforms’, FP7 ICT Call 8 project supported by the European Commission) will question the design targets of LThttp://www. 1mpi. com/doc/7d4b045646266649789a0792E and LTE-Advanced and the obedience to strict synchronism and orthogonality will be challenged. It will develop new PHY and MAC layer concepts being better suited to meet the upcoming needs with respect to service variety and heterogeneous transmission setups. It is expected that wireless transmission networks following the outcomes of 5GNOW will be better suited to meet the manifoldness of services, device classes and transmission setups present in envisioned future scenarios like smart cities. The integration of systems relying heavily on MTC into the communication network will be eased. In the poster we will deliver first preliminary results of the project including specifically addressed scenarios such as Uplink MTC, Asynchronous Uplink/Downlink CoMP, and Fragmented Spectrum.
