(E)-5,5 '-(3-phenylprop-2-ene-1,1-diyl)bis[6-amino-1,3-dimethylpyrimidine-2,4(1h ,3H)-Dione] : Synthesis, Characterization, Crystal Structure and Antimicrobial Activity

摘要
The title compound (A) has been synthesized by the reaction of 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil with cinnamaldehyde (mixture of Z and E isomer) in aqueous media followed by recrystallization from 98% ethanolic solution. The compound is characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group with a = 11.4666(9) angstrom, b = 12.3330(11) angstrom, c = 14.7670(12) angstrom, beta = 99.632(8)degrees and Z = 4. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked by N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds forming a linear 1-D chain and the structure is further stabilized by weak C-H center dot center dot center dot O and pi-pi stacking interactions. The title compound has also been screened for antifungal and antibacterial activity which shows important antibacterial property.
