Utilization of New Imaging Techniques in Wrist Trauma
MINERVA ORTOPEDICA E TRAUMATOLOGICA(2016)
Abstract
The management of wrist trauma is complicated by a complex anatomy and an incomplete understanding of its biomechanics. Specifically, in the wrist the ligaments are as important as the bony structures. It is therefore not surprising that imaging techniques such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are being used for imaging of trauma, and that new techniques are constantly being developed. We have identified and summarized a number of recent advancements in the field of wrist imaging that may be helpful to the clinician treating trauma of the wrist.
