摘要
Low bone mass and the occurrence of clinically significant fractures are increasingly recognized as an important medical problem among pediatric patients with genetic disorders and acquired chronic illnesses. The goal of this review is to provide an overview of the scope of the problem in children and adolescents, highlighting the current knowledge about bone densitometry in the pediatric population, including indications for its use and the interpretation of results. The report also highlights the current consensus statements generated at the 2007 Pediatric Position Development Conference of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
