Determination of fluoroquinolones in dried plasma spots by using microwave-assisted extraction coupled to ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for therapeutic drug monitoring

•Dried plasma spots were utilized for clinical sample saving and handling.•Analyte extraction was performed with efficient microwave-assisted extraction.•The extraction time is only 40 s and the method was carefully validated.•Quantification results of dried plasma spots exhibited a high correlation to those from plasma.•DPSs can be used as an alternative sample type for TDM of fluoroquinolones.
