E-mail: phyllisromijn@gmail.com Vulnerability detection of an environment to disease transmission by sylvatic animals is possible to achieve when monitoring the environment adequately. Strategies were evaluated for antropozoonoses monitoring in Miracema, Rio de Janeiro, setting up conditions to identify the possible origin of pathogens at the sylvatic-urban interface and so prevent diseases involving these agents. The applied strategy was able to point out that, in areas with human cases, or disease cycles causing domestic animal losses and misanthropic animal population disequilibria, it is important to introduce actions for monitoring vulnerability towards the occurrence of diseases of compulsory notification like Rabies, Leishmaniosis, Rickettsiosis, Bubonic Pest, Leptospirosis, Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, Fasciolosis and Cisticercosis, were produced. Animal species were identified; their geographic distribution and potential risks, and suggestions for disease monitoring and controlling strategies were recommended. It is concluded that the biodiversity identification within the context of a certain environment may be used as an evaluation factor of vulnerability to zoonoses of the human and domestic animal population.
