The rights of the children (0-6 year) and inclusive education

According to international observers Spain is considered to be one of the countries which best tries to observe the Convention on Child Rights. However, several marginalization and exclusion situations which must be overcome can still be detected. Although children's rights must be ensured by every social institution, it is believed that the nursery school is an appropriate context in which to actively defend children's rights. Therefore, in this article we will reflect on how an inclusive school may foster children's rights in nursery school due to the favourable atmosphere it creates for all children to learn together independently of their personal, social or cultural environments and conditions. We analyse the way inclusive education must relieve the risk of social exclusion. It must also contribute towards developing a child's personality, as well as their aptitudes and mental and physical skills to the utmost of their possibilities. This education should also contribute towards a basic learning which ensures their integration and school success. The article will present several proposals for intervention aimed towards achieving equity and quality in infants' education.
