Springback Reduction of Blade Part Using Measuring Based Compensation Methodology

Abstract
Spingback is the main defect in sheet metal forming, which badly affects the shape of a part. In this paper, a method of springback compensation is presented. It first predicted the curvature of sheet after springback based on the mechanics of elastic recovery. Then, a trial stamping experiment was done. By measuring the geometric information of the trial part and comparing the curvatures with the predicted one, a correction coefficient can be obtained. Then, this correction coefficient is used to calculate the compensated tool shape based on plasticity bending theory. A blade sector had been chosen to validate this compensation methodology. The experiment showed that the springback error of the stamped part can been greatly reduced only after one die revision.
