Dual-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes epoxy-based nanocomposites for simplified, adhesive spray-deposited silver layer

•The novel epoxy-based nanocomposites improved adhesion with the silver layer.•The growth of silver particles was analyzed by SEM and statistical analysis.•The role of d-MWCNTs was discussed and the “tug-of-war” mechanism was promoted.•The fabricated nanocomposites simplified the pretreatment of spraying.
