Evaluation of the association between the healthy eating index and the level of serum and dietary intake of copper and zinc

摘要
•Serum Cu and serum Zn/Cu were inversely and directly correlated with the HEI respectively.•For each 10 unit increase in HEI, there was a 1.09 fold increase in serum Cu in comparison with the reference group.•A significant association was found between serum Zn/Cu and HEI (95% CI = 0.002–0.005; p < 0.001).•There was no significant association between dietary Zn or Cu, and HEI.
