VisGraphNet: A complex network interpretation of convolutional neural features

•We propose the use of visibility graphs for pooling of convolutional network descriptors.•A complex network model is combined with a (deep) learning-based method.•The proposed approach is evaluated on the classification of benchmark texture images.•The method is also applied to the identification of Brazilian plant species.•Classification accuracy outperforms state-of-the-art methods for texture recognition.
