Background: In-house pediatric hospitalist attending coverage 24/7 is required for hospitals to be certified as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons. Little is known about the effects of having in-house attending nocturnist coverage on hospital utilization. Purpose: To examine utilization outcomes before and after the introduction of a pediatric hospitalist nocturnist program.
