Superhydrophobic, Stretchable and Conductive Elastomeric Strip for Human Motion Detection

Flexible electronics with superhydrophobic and stretchable properties have attracted considerable attention. Herein, a multiwalled carbon nanotubes covered polystyrene-b-poly(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-poly styrene (MWCNTs@SEBS) elastomeric strip was fabricated by a simple spraying method. The MWCNTs@SEBS strip possessed conductivity, stretchability of up to 500% and superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle (WCA) of 165 degrees. Owing to high sensitivity, wide detection range and excellent repeatability, the MWCNTs@SEBS strip-based strain sensor was successfully applied for human motion detection even in wet and underwater environments.
