Enhancement Of Beam Tracking Response Using Color Filtering Method For Optical Wireless Power Transmission

Laser has a special characteristic to be developed as Optical Wireless Power Transmission (OWPT) for long-distance. It provides a coherent almost non-divergent beam with high energy density in a small beam size of diameter. This condition makes the direction of the laser beam to the appropriate target using laser beam tracking system is needed. In this research, we developed a beam tracking system to track a high-speed object movement by using the Galvano mirror and CMOS camera. Color filtering method was chosen to recognize the object. As a result, the beam tracking system can be used to track the beam to follow object movement speed up to 52 degrees/s. Error position between the central point of area recognition with the laser beam spot tends to increase when the object speed was increased. The prediction method was added in the control system to reduce it, the delay factor was attached to the calculation of 128 ms. This method can minimize the error position less than 2 degrees/s.
