Element-wise Bayesian regularization for fast and adaptive force reconstruction

•A novel Element-wise Bayesian regularization method is proposed for force reconstruction problems.•It is shown that Element-wise Bayesian regularization can identify forces accurately without prior information on the force nature.•It is demonstrated that Element-wise Bayesian regularization outperforms existing methods on computation speed.•Element-wise Bayesian regularization proves its robustness by successful reconstruction on different structures under different noise levels.
