Research on Quantitative Evaluation of Power Regulation Ability of VSPSU

the vigorous development of HVDC system provides a favorable condition for the large-scale new energy power transmission. However, the inherent intermittency and volatility of the new energy power bring forward higher requirements for the power regulation capacity of the power grid. The variable speed pumped storage units (VSPSU) based on doubly-fed generator can realize the function of variable speed constant frequency operation and continuous power regulation under both generator and motor modes, and the active power, reactive power and frequency can be decoupled, providing superior regulation power for mufti-terminal VSCHVDC system with large-scale new energy power, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the hybrid system. Based on the above problems, a multi-terminal VSC-HVDC system model with large scale new energy and variable speed pumped storage is constructed, and then the static and dynamic influencing factors that affect the power regulation capability of the combined system is studied. And furthermore, the factors affecting the power regulation ability of the joint system are evaluated quantitatively by fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. The results can provide theoretical guidance and technical basis for the coordinated operation of the combined system and the optimal output of active power, thereby ensuring the power balance of the combined system and the safety and reliability of the grid operation.
