Vibro-acoustic analysis of noise inside vehicles

The noise levels in tracked vehicles subjected to rugged terrain is an important consideration due to its effects on human health, crew fatigue and system reliability. This paper aims to predict the noise in the interior of a tracked vehicle numerically, at low frequencies. These numerical predictions of interior noise were then compared with experimental measurements. Structure-borne noise has a significant contribution in the low frequency range. The generated interior noise is dependent not only on the structural vibrations, but also on the acoustic resonance of the interior cavity. Therefore, vibro-acoustic analysis was conducted using the COMSOL Multiphysics software.
