An innovative user interface under awfully rigorous conditions: test question browser app for Japanese examinees with print disabilities

ABSTRACTOur research team developed a test question browser app for test-takers with print disabilities. This technology had to fully overcome three challenges: (1) the characteristic rigorousness and fairness demanded of East Asian university entrance exams, (2) problems inherent in assistive technologies for persons with print disabilities, and (3) the unique demands of the Japanese language in accurately displaying text and reading it aloud.
