摘要
An archaeological experiment - based on biomechanical and dimensional analysis - proves that object no. MAR 900020, deposited in the Latenium Museum (Hauterive, Switzerland) is actually the lower part of an ancient yoke for cattle and not a Celtic pack horse saddle, as previously described. Indeed, its dimensions correspond with an upper part of a yoke that had been found (no. MAR - 513). The item in its complete form would have been used for training and harnessing young animals. The method for assembling the yoke, when harnessing the animal, indicates that its construction possessed a high level of sophistication. The yoke would have permitted livestock to fully exert themselves, while also fully respecting the anatomy of the given animal and the biomechanics of its movements.
