Farmers’ awareness level and their perceptions of climate change: A case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan

•Farm households perceive different climatic events: variation in precipitation, rise in temperature, floods and droughts.•Farm households’ decision about climate change adaptation strategies depends on their resource’s availability.•Aware farm households are more willing to adapt the new adaptation strategies.•Socio economics conditions of farm households affect awareness level of farm households.•Access to extension services/awareness of climate change by institutional services, need to be enhanced.
