•We extract glutamatergic post-synaptic densities (PSD) from human frontal cortex.•We confirmed PSD purity using electron microscopy and Western blotting.•We compared protein expression within samples between psychiatric disorders and comparison controls.•We found disrupted expression of glutamate signalling proteins in schizophrenia and depression.
