CREATIVE POTENTIAL AND PERSONALITY OF SPANISH STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION DANCE

The current research combines dance and creativity terms with new personality features. On the other hand, there are studies to understand how the dance creates divergent answers and how it stimulates the motor creativity, so it can be considered that this activity increases the solution of the problems and, indeed, the expression of feelings. In this sense, the dance puts in a continuous research of different forms of movement to conceive its own corporal language in an imaginative space. If we take into account a synchronic perspective, there were schools and academies in the XVI and XVIIth century studied the dance 's structures with special dedication. Considering these previous arguments, the aim of this paper is to analyze if the regulate studies of dance in Spain are useful to increase the creative potential in the dancer 's work in relation to the rest of the population. It has been considered the personality features giving the 16 PF test to 91 dancers, 60 students of the last year of the higher-education dance in the choreography speciality and 32 professional dancers to determinate their creativity with respect to other social sections. In this way, the students of the last year stand out over the general average in personality features as it is defined as very creative persons. In conclussion, the dance contents of the teaching curriculum inside of the higher-education in Spain seem to develop and to strengthen the creativity.
