Sensor Network for Monitoring Livestock Behaviour
Italian National Conference on Sensors(2020)
Abstract
This paper presents the design of our livestock-monitoring system that uses long-range (LoRa), which is a type of low-power wide-area network. We present the background of this project, discuss the details of our sensor network for monitoring livestock behavior, and determine its relationship with high-quality milk. The network employs four different wireless-communication technologies (LTE, Zigbee, LoRa, and 315MHz) to meet the different types of data-transmission requirements. The simulation results show that the system can operate with a solar panel without requiring maintenance.
