摘要

•Two autotrophic As(III)-oxidizing bacteria were isolated from activated sludge.•Strain VKA3 exhibited a higher As(III) oxidation kinetics than strain VKA4.•Both strains aerobically oxidize Sb(III) to Sb(V).•Both strains belong to the genus Shinella and possess the aioA gene.
