3D Registration of pre-surgical prostate MRI and histopathology images via super-resolution volume reconstruction

•Our super-resolution networks can be used to reconstruct information useful for the 3D reconstruction of MRI and histopathology image stacks.•Accurate registration without the need for slice-to-slice correspondence reduces required human input.•Accurate 3D registration allows the mapping of cancer outlines from the histopathology images onto the MRI to create labels for downstream learning tasks.
