•The Greek Keele STarT Back Screening Tool (SBST) was successfully developed.•Greek STST obtained satisfactory content and construct validity.•Test-retest reliability & internal consistency of the Greek SBST were satisfactory.•Greek STST reported good discriminant validity in 4 items and with Roland-Morris.•Greek SBST can be used in clinical rehabilitation/research in LBP/sciatica patients.
