A high selectivity reconfigurable bandpass filter with switchable passbands based on novel PIN diode loaded stepped impedance resonators (SIRs) is proposed in this paper. By controlling the switch on/off of the diodes, the proposed filter can achieve two distinct passband frequency responses. To verify the designed method, a reconfigurable BPF prototype is implemented and tested. Two operating frequency responses centered at 1.45 GHz and 1.69 GHz with high selectivity are obtained. The measurements agree well with the electromagnetic (EM) simulated results.
