Pixel-Based Optimization Of Touch Sensing Electrodes For Integration With 5g Antennas

Conventional capacitive touch sensor panels (TSPs) have densely packed sensing electrodes that substantially reflect electromagnetic (EM) waves impinging on them especially in S and C-bands. There is a strong interaction between the antenna element placed underneath and the electrodes, distorting the antenna's radiation pattern. Thus, we propose a systematic strategy that optimizes the shapes of the sensing electrodes to configure transmission pass-bands at will for a normally incident plane wave. Finally, the optimized TSP is integrated with a dipole antenna operating at 4GHz (5G n77-band) to validate our proposed design methodology.
