Initial Experience with Single-port Robotic-assisted Kidney Transplantation and Autotransplantation

In our first ever initial series of single-port robotic-assisted kidney transplantation including allotransplantation and autotransplantation, we demonstrated safety and feasibility of the technique, with excellent early graft function. While these early results are promising, a larger series with longer follow-up is required. If future comparative trials confirm, further minimization of the morbidity of kidney transplantation may be associated with improved recovery in terms of reduced hospitalization and/or postoperative pain.
