Cyclo(Daa-Daa) Dipeptide As A Peptide Linker And Beta-Sheet Inducer

The utilizing of cyclo(DAA-DAA) molecule composed of two cyclized double amino acids (DAA) and representing functionalized 2,5-diketopiperazines (DKPs) is proposed and discussed. On the basis of theoretical studies employing ab initio and density functional theory methods it is demonstrated that the cyclo(DAA-DAA) compound may serve as a peptide linker due to its ability of forming four peptide bonds with natural amino acids which in turn leads to stabilization of secondary peptide structures containing beta-turns or alpha-helices.
