摘要
Introduction: SBE aims to achieve set learning objectives through replication of, and immersion in, real world experiences. NIVSIM is a one day SBE course exploring technical skills, safety related behaviours and non-technical aspects of NIV care. NIVSIM highlights current recommendations for acute NIV and participants experience common scenarios. Method: Prospective data collected before and after the NIVSM course from participants in 2019 were evaluated using the Human Factors Skills for Healthcare Instrument (HuFSHI) and the purpose developed NIVSIM Self-Assessment Tool. Results: 34 participants attended: 6%(n=2) medics, 65%(n=22) nurse, 26%(n=9) physiotherapists and 3%(n=1) other. 88%(n=30) were female. There was an overall improvement in HuFSHI score (mean diff 0.45 95%CI -1.88 to 0.97 p=0.520) (Fig 1.) and NIV Self-Assessment Tool score (mean diff 0.402 95%CI -1.7 to 0.99 p=0.561) (Table 1). Conclusion: NIVSIM can encourage life-long learning and improve knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence in managing acute NIV thereby advancing quality of care delivered to patients
