Intestinal expression of ACE2 in mice with high-fat diet–induced obesity and neonates exposed to maternal high-fat diet

•Intestinal ACE2 protein levels are increased in mice with high-fat diet-induced obesity.•Ace2 mRNA could be detected in intestinal macrophages but not in microglia.•Maternal high-fat diet feeding decreases intestinal ACE2 levels in the offspring compared with normal diet feeding.•Intestinal ACE2 protein levels are higher in neonates compared with adult and aging mice.
