Heterogeneous catalytic activation of BaCu-based M-hexaferrite nanoparticles for methylene blue degradation under photo-Fenton-like system

•A novel BaCu-based M-hexaferrite NPs with Gd-Tl substitution were synthesized effectively with co-precipitation procedure.•Pure and x = 0.50 NPs photocatalyzed 99−98% degradation of MB within 120 min.•Photo-Fenton-like system has shown high efficiency for MB degradation.•Hydroxyl radical is an active agent in the photo-Fenton-like oxidation procedure.
