Simultaneous determination of multi-class active pharmaceutical ingredients by UHPLC-HRMS

•Determining 47 APIs in personal care products using UHPLC-quadrupole-orbitrap HRMS with HRMS2 spectra library search.•Optimization of collision energy for each analyte to get sufficient fragmentation and avoid excessive fragmentation.•11 representative stable isotopically labeled API analogs were used as internal standards.•8 APIs were identified in 26 out of 100 products from 103 to 156,000 μg/g.
